I once started as a software developer, progressed to senior functional manager and now on my way to information analyst. This by obtaining certificates, following training courses and gaining the right practical experience.

After my computer science studies, it was obvious that I would start working as a software developer. So I started my career with this expectation.

After working as a software developer for 2 years, I found out that my ambition and challenge lie more on the side of information analysis; in particular the business processes, analyzing and translating the information needs and how the information flows. When I was sure that I wanted to make the step to become an information analyst, I started looking at how I could make this career switch. With a permanent employer I had the idea that it might take a long time or that it might be impossible to grow. Thanks to an attractive combination of education, training, certifications, knowledge sharing, guidance and a large training budget, in combination with varied work, it would be possible at CIMSOLUTIONS if I were willing to invest in my development.

Given my background as a developer, technical application manager was a good starting position towards my goal as an information analyst. In the past period I have been able to work for various organizations as a technical application manager and then as a senior functional manager. As a functional manager I have helped several customers to translate their needs into functional specifications and to optimize their processes. I have maintained contacts with internal and external IT suppliers and managed current affairs. My technical skills have helped me in this role to quickly establish connections between the business and IT. Due to my broad knowledge, responsibilities are often entrusted to me.As a result, I helped further professionalize several departments through methodologies such as ASL2, BISL and Scrum. I will soon be able to use this knowledge as an information analyst.

After working for a few years as a software developer, technical application manager and my current position as senior functional manager, I am ready to take the next step towards my ambition. I have now built up enough knowledge and practical experience to take on the challenge. In the coming period I will obtain extra certificates such as TOGAF 9 and Business Intelligence Process Mining, follow training courses and combine them with the right practical experience.
